asked:

Every man must have had the craving to learn how to play the guitar during his teenage years. This is only normal when growing up, especially in an age where rock music and pop culture are both prevalent and plays a significant part in shaping someone’s personality.

Many individuals learned how to play the guitar through friends. It is a good thing now that there is the Internet where one can browse through thousands or millions of web pages and websites that offer nothing but guitar lessons.

Perhaps the very first thing that a guitar player should know, aside from the parts of the guitar, is how to read guitar music the right way. As we all know, this can only be made possible if the player knows how to read guitar chords from a chart. This is the only way that one person can read through the tabs, play them, and see if the guitar music is right or wrong.

Learning how to read guitar chords is the only way to learn how to play guitar. Being able to do so saves someone the hassle of looking for another person just to ask for information. In time, after learning how to read guitar music, one can easily say that what he has on the magazine guitar chart for a certain song is wrong. He can then move on to changing it and in turn, tech his friends the right chords for playing a song.

read music

asked:

A guitar is a fantastic instrument to play. It is easy to play and very difficult depending on what you play. Let’s take a look at learning to play guitar sheet music!

I have found in my teaching experiences that many pupils find reading sheet music on guitar to be very difficult.

Admittedly there are a lot of factors that make reading guitar sheet music notation more of a challenge than on other instruments in certain aspects.

However, the most important factor is in my opinion that many guitarists never decide to learn to find the notes on the guitar. Instead they cultivate the habit of listening, playing and calculating where the specific note probably is to be played on the guitar.

Such a strategy is too slow to make it possible to sight read sheet music on guitar. A wish and then a decision to really start learning the notes on the guitar is much better than to use the before mentioned method to find the notes.

You have to start from where you are if you want to progress and become a good sight reader on guitar.

Kansieo.com

asked:

If you play guitar, or are thinking about taking it up you should decide if being able to read guitar music is important to you or not. This have a big impact in how you decide to learn to play the instrument. Why? For a couple of reasons.

1.) Not learning how to read music and relying on Tablature to learn new tunes and just knowing the names of chords is a lot easier then comprehending musical theory and the notes on each string.

2.) If you decide you want to know how to read guitar music then it’s going to take a bit longer to learn the basics. There is more time that must be put in learning additional skills and knowledge needed later on.

Website content

www.creativeguitarstudio.com Search Andrew Wasson.com for FREE lesson Handouts. This Video: January 28, 2011 | Search Videos by Title/Date. GO TO: www.andrewwasson.com Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question… Q: First off, I’d like to state that, I am a decent guitarist with 16 years experience on guitar. I just watched your video on Constructing Chords on the Guitar Neck where you had mentioned that music reading is an important element for learning fret-board notes and music’s various rhythms! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to discipline myself to begin learning to read music on the guitar. And, in the end, I have always abandoned it. I’ve purchased books like; the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1, Classical Guitar for Beginners, and another one called Play Guitar Today. These books were so dumb and boring that I just could not find any motivation to study from them. My question would be; Is it possible for a somewhat established player to actually go backwards and learn a fundamental rudiment like music reading? And, have you got any music reading study tips. Thanks BTW – for your incredible guitar lessons! Bill, Rhode Island – USA A: When it comes to learning music reading I think it can be summed up with three points… #1. Make a decision that you are going to learn to read — and stick to it through thick and thin. #2. Realize that most of the books out there are not great, and only a few will work as good supplements to …

Caffeinated Content
